SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound,
oil and grease. Light mechanical grinding or high pressure water jet may be used to clean the surface.
All surface imperfections and protrusions shall be removed and repaired.
PRIMING
It is highly recommended to apply a priming coat before applying the GRANDCOAT EM10 coating to the substrate. The primer can be prepared on-site by diluting GRANDCOAT EM10 with 20% water. This diluted mixture should be applied as the primer. For very dry and porous substrates, apply two coats of this primer. Additionally, the primer can be applied to damp or freshly cast concrete surfaces.
FOUNDATION DAMPPROOFING
Before application, thoroughly stir the contents of the drum to remove any sediments. Depending on the required dry film thickness, apply the rubberized bitumen coating at a rate of 2 - 4 m²/liter on vertical surfaces. It is recommended to apply the coating in multiple layers to prevent sagging of the heavy-bodied material. Subsequent coats should be applied only after the previous coat has completely dried and should be applied at right angles to the previous layer.
To enhance adhesion for the subsequent coats and achieve a greater dry film thickness, clean, dry sand may be broadcast onto the wet coating. The coating should be applied and finished up to the Damp Proof Course (DPC) level. Care must be taken to ensure that the first coat is not punctured during the application of the second coat. If any damage occurs to the coating, the affected area can be easily recoated with proper surface preparation.
