The application temperature should be between 5°C and 55°C. Application procedures may vary slightly depending on site conditions.
All pollutants, such as dust, residues of curing resin, oil, and grease, must be thoroughly cleaned from the surface. Any surface imperfections, protrusions, and structurally unsound or friable concrete must be removed and repaired.
Apply the GRAND PRIME SB primer using a roller or brush at a coverage rate of 4-6 m² per liter. The primer must be allowed to dry completely before fixing the membrane.
GRANDTEX E 4000 waterproofing membranes are fixed by torch welding the underside. The membrane rolls should be lined up and spread freely, starting at the lowest point on the roof deck, over the area to be fixed. The rolls should be laid in such a way that they overlap one another along the side lap by at least 10 cm. The lap joints should direct water towards the drains.
Next, the membranes are rolled back without changing their orientation. They are then unrolled again while heating the underside sufficiently to melt the surface. End laps should be at least 15 cm. Remove any unnecessary and inconsistent heat application.
To create a thin bead of molten bitumen at the bottom, the lap joints should be heated from the top; the bead is then smoothed out with a trowel, ensuring a perfectly welded joint.
